Aaron Naughton, Ed Richards and Callum Porter are the latest additions to the Kennel after they were taken with picks 9, 16 and 74 respectively in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft in Sydney on Friday night.
Key defender Naughton was the first name called at pick nine, the Victoria transplant joining the Dogs from Peel Thunder in Western Australia. Rated as the best intercept mark in this year’s draft pool, the 194cm 17-year-old was awarded with All-Australian honours after an showing in the Nationals.

With the Club’s second pick, 16th overall, the Bulldogs selected speed half back, Ed Richards. While the 18-year-old’s former Oakleigh Charger’s footballing pedigree is difficult to ignore, it’s his competitiveness, matched with foot skills and composure under pressure that caught Recruiting Manager Simon Dalrymple’s eye.

With the Club's final selection, pick 74 overall, the Dogs selected Gippsland Power midfielder Callum Porter.
The 18-year-old is a versatile midfielder with an ability to also play as a half-back or forward, and is renowned for his leadership skills.
Porter took out Gippsland’s best and fairest and finished seventh in the 2017 Morrish Medal, which recognises the best players in the TAC Cup competition.
