Defender Shane Biggs is the latest Western Bulldogs player to re-sign with the Club, the 24-year-old penning a two-year contract extension this week.

Biggs has been in impressive form this year, averaging 29 disposals and eight marks across the first two games.

The rebounding defender is ranked fourth in the competition for average uncontested possessions, and fifth in the league for total kicks.

Bulldogs List Manager Jason McCartney said the Club was keen to extend Biggs for another two years, based on the defender’s form and application since arriving at the Club.

“We’ve been really encouraged with what we’ve seen from Shane in his short time at the Club.

“He’s a popular team member, and has displayed all the attributes we saw in him from afar, namely his running capacity and neat ball use.

“We look forward to seeing Shane continue to flourish under the Club’s football program.”

Biggs said he too was grateful for the opportunity to continue with the Club.

“The Club’s shown a lot of confidence in me, and the way we’re going and the way we’re playing at the moment, it’s pretty exciting.

“I can’t thank the Club enough for giving me a chance after Sydney, and showing their confidence in signing me this early, it’s a real buzz for me.”

Biggs joined the Bulldogs from the Sydney Swans during the 2014 AFL Trade Period.

He was recruited to the Swans with the 13th selection in the 2012 AFL Rookie Draft, and has played 18 games since his debut in 2013.
