There was no room for complacency in the Bulldogs' huddle on Sunday afternoon after a blistering seven goals to one opening term, defender Shane Biggs saying the NAB Challenge loss to Collingwood two weeks previous was front of mind.
"We talked about not dropping away like we did in that NAB game, so [we focused on] keeping the foot on the throat," Biggs said.
"The big margin in the end, we were really happy with."
The Dockers challenged in the third term, slowing the game down and registering three goals to one to get within 34-points, but the Dogs were able to steady, eventually running out 65-point winners.
Biggs said it was an important lesson for the young Dogs against a quality opponent.
"It's good to practice all kinds of games, and Fremantle brought the pressure after half time but it was good that we were able to match it and run away with it."
One of the reasons the Dogs were able to steady the ship was the play of Biggs himself, who collected a career high 35 touches and six marks across half back in a standout performance.
But you sense Biggs won't be taking today for granted.
