The Western Bulldogs Community Foundation’s Leadership Project is off to a flying start for 2017.
Entering its fifth year, the Western Bulldogs Leadership Project has seen over 250 young people successfully complete the program.
Established in 2013, the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation Leadership Project offers unique opportunities for young people to build confidence, make new friendships and develop skills that will enable them to become future leaders in their community
Inner West Leadership Project student, Tessa Harrison wrote to the Western Bulldogs, summarising her first Leadership Project experience:
“On Tuesday, the 18th myself and the other participants taking part in the Western Bulldogs Leadership program met at Victoria University Whitten Oval to take part in our very first workshop.
“Once everyone arrived we watched the Bulldogs train for a while. Luckily, we got to get some photos with the players and get some jumpers and footy cards signed.
“After this, we all participated in a ‘get to know you’ activity which involved everyone asking people loads of questions to fill in their ‘bingo’ paper.
“Next we listened to four different presentations. Each presentation gave us some inspiration as to what we could do for our community project. We heard presentations from the Salvation Army, Australian Multicultural Foundation, Headspace and Step Back Think. Everybody learnt something new from the presentations, whether it was how many kids are homeless or how we need to think before we speak.
“All the presentations provided us with possible project ideas, which could be finding a way to help homeless people or trying to stop racism.
“In conclusion, everybody learnt something new and had a wonderful time learning about important problems that affect our community.”
The Western Bulldogs Leadership Program is off to a fantastic start.
