Until Liam Picken’s recent transformation from dour stopper to high flying small forward, the 30-year-old had little in common with father Billy’s on field exploits.
Until now.
Not only was Picken the Younger’s six-goal haul on the weekend a career high, but it capped off an extraordinary stats line uncovered by Twitter stats guru @Sirswampthing.

While both father and son count a bag of six as their best performance in front of goal, their second best was three, as was their third and fourth. In fact, a list of each players’ ten highest goal returns across their career is identical.
Picken’s performance was instrumental in the Bulldogs’ 54-point win over the Suns in Cairns, the Club’s biggest win of the season so far and it’s first interstate for the season.
The Dogs now sit outside the eight on percentage with Essendon to come on Sunday afternoon at Etihad Stadium.
