The Western Bulldogs have returned from the mid-season bye “switched on” and primed for their round 12 match with Brisbane.
Bulldogs defender Jason Johannisen says after ten rounds, the rest was timely as they prepare for a big four weeks of football against four teams in the bottom half of the ladder.
“It’s always good to rest the body because it’s been a hard ten rounds of the year so it’s always good to rest the body and rest the mind.
“The boys are switched on now and getting ready for Brisbane, everyone seems refreshed and ready to get back to work.”
After a solid three-quarter performance against Port Adelaide two weeks ago, Johannisen says the focus for the Dogs must be on a four quarter performance.
“I think coming off the back of last weekend we played alright for three quarters so I think this week the focus is really putting that four quarter effort and being consistent throughout the game.”
Johannisen hasn’t missed a match this year, and has been one of the Dogs’ biggest improvers in 2015.
The 22-year-old is ranked 10th in the AFL for bounces and 18th for rebound 50s, with his run out of defence aiding the Dogs in their attacking game style.
“Having a good pre-season and having Bob Murphy and Matthew Boyd down there is always good to help me out so I think learning off them and a good pre-season has helped me have a good start to the year.
“Rohan Smith just tells me to use my strengths and that run is one of my strengths so I’m looking forward to it (each week) and I enjoy doing it every time I can.”
