On-baller Kirsty Lamb says the Bulldogs must maintain their winning momentum as they head into the pointy end of the season.

The Dogs consolidated their spot on top of the AFLW ladder, following an eight point win over Collingwood in Moe, and will face the fourth placed GWS on Saturday in Canberra.

“It’s a huge game, obviously we need to continue winning if we have any aspirations to play a final this year,” Lamb told westernbulldogs.com.au.

“The message from Grovesy is about – how do we want to play the game and what intensity we want to bring.

“The message is really clear, we stick to our guns, we follow the process and it’s all about the first 15 minutes.”

The Bulldogs had the majority of play early against the Pies, dominating the inside 50 count, but didn’t capitalise on their opportunities. The Magpies charged late, falling eight-points short.

“We certainly took a lot out of it. We spoke post-match about probably not playing the way we wanted to.

“It was purely because Collingwood brought a lot of pressure around the footy which was really good.

“It was a good learning curve for us to really practice the game style we wanted to play under immense pressure. I have no doubt teams will look at that and bring it when they play us in the coming weeks.”

Lamb’s star continues to rise as the dual-sportswoman develops under Coach Paul Groves.

“We’ve got a really good group and fantastic coaching staff behind us,” she said.

“I’ll continue to put my head over the ball, that’s sort of the strength in my game. I’ve absolutely loved that part of it (and) that’s where I’ve got to continue growing.”
