Three goals from 20-year-old Josh Schache brightened an otherwise dreary day for Footscray who fell to to Port Melbourne by 33-points in their Round 6 clash at Fortburn Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Two first quarter goals from Schache saw the Dogs take control early, before the Borough built on their momentum in the third quarter - keeping the Dogs to a goalless term and boosting the margin to 20 points at the final break and ultimately sealing the win. .
AFL-listed talls Jackson Trengove (One goal, 18 disposals) and Jordan Roughead (One goal, 22 hit-outs) put forward their case for senior selection in coming weeks, while defender Fletcher Roberts was influential across the back-line, collecting fourteen disposals and six marks.
Tim English was impressive in the ruck working in tandem with Tom Camppell, the 20-year-old adding a goal and five marks to go with 11 disposals and 30 hitouts, while Lin Jong was among the Dogs' best picking up 23 touches, laying ten tackles and kicking a goal.
