AFLW premiership ruck Aasta O’Connor has left the Bulldogs to pursue an opportunity at the Geelong Football Club.
The 30-year-old played 12 games over two seasons with the Bulldogs after being selected with pick 12 in the 2016 NAB AFLW Draft.
“We have had some great discussions with Aasta around her future, both playing and after playing, and we have all agreed that the opportunity presented to her is the best fit for her at this current time,” said Bulldogs’ General Manager of Women’s Football, Debbie Lee.
“We sincerely thank her for her efforts, we’re proud and grateful that she was able to share in our 2018 premiership, and we wish her well for the future.”
O’Connor played every game in the 2018 campaign, culminating in the premiership win over the Brisbane Lions.
“Aasta has been an integral part of the first two years of the Western Bulldogs’ AFLW program, after beginning her career as a Bulldog in 2013 as part of the exhibition series,” said Bulldogs’ AFLW coach Paul Groves.
“Her professionalism and want to get better has enabled our group to develop and achieve the ultimate success.”
