The Western Bulldogs have revealed that midfielder Lukas Webb will miss the next 6-8 weeks of football while he recovers from an ankle injury.
Webb was hurt at training late last week and successfully underwent surgery on a fractured fibula, with the 23-year-old expected to return to playing later the season.
Webb had played the first seven games for Footscray in the VFL so far this season, after making a successful comeback from a neck injury.
While the AFL team which travelled to Perth emerged from the game unscathed, there were some casualties from the weekend’s VFL game.
Tall forward Josh Schache suffered a concussion during the first quarter and was removed from the game, and Fergus Greene suffered an injured shoulder.
“Josh has come in well today, and will work through our concussion processes over the next week with the expectation that he returns to full training after the bye,” said Bulldogs’ Physical Performance Manager, Chris Bell.
“In his first game back following his ankle injury, Fergus got caught in a tackle and has suffered a shoulder instability episode.
“We will work with Fergus over the next 7-14 days to determine his best course of management.”
Small forward Ben Cavarra is ready to return, while Dale Morris, Taylor Duryea and Hayden Crozier are also a chance to be back on the field after the bye.
