To celebrate the first AFL game at the new-look Marvel Stadium, the Western Bulldogs will don a Thor-inspired guernsey in their Round 1 blockbuster against the Sydney Swans.
The guernsey will pay homage to Marvel character Thor, who is played by superstar Chris Hemsworth, an avid Bulldogs supporter.
The guernsey was produced by Bulldogs’ apparel partner Asics, in consultation with Marvel, and blends the Club’s traditional home strip with Thor’s armour, including a red cape featured on the back of the jumper.
It follows the Bulldogs’ AFLW team wearing a specially-designed warm-up guernsey in their first game at Marvel Stadium last weekend, which celebrated the release of Captain Marvel, the first Marvel film starring a female lead played by Brie Larson.

Bulldogs captain Easton Wood said the playing group embraced the opportunity to tie the Marvel theme into the guernsey for the first game at the newly-branded stadium.
“It will be a special occasion for us, as a tenant club, to be part of the first AFL game since Marvel secured the naming rights of Docklands Stadium,” he said.
“The Club worked closely with the players to come up with the design of the guernsey, and it has been enthusiastically supported by the playing group.
“Kids see us as superheroes and role models, just as they see the Marvel characters on the big screen, and now we can combine the two through footy, which is a unique and exciting opportunity.

“It will hopefully attract a new audience of fans for us, and we’re keen to see our members and supporters get to Marvel Stadium for Round 1 in full voice against the Swans.”
Thanks to Marvel, a portion of proceeds from the sale of the Bulldogs’ Thor-inspired guernsey will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Fans will also have the chance to purchase the guernsey at the Round 1 match on March 23, and match-worn guernseys will be available post-game as part of a live online auction on the Club’s website.
