Senior coach Luke Beveridge spoke to the media ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba.

The contest ahead…
They’re going really well, Brisbane, in so many areas. We had a good outing against them earlier in the year.
These days, week-to-week you get a pretty solid insight into the way opposition teams do things and they’ve discovered their own formula and its really working for them.
As usual, we’ll stick to what we know best and what we feel like we’ll do well and how we can challenge the Lions. At the same time, we really respect them and will cater for some of their really influential players. In planning, we’ve given it a lot of thought and we’ll go up there knowing full well how critical this game is in the scheme of the season.

Will Schache return?
If Schache plays, he plays his 50th game this week.
Josh has been playing some pretty good footy for us, he’s missed a week with concussion and even in the Saints game where he came off with concussion, if you look at some of the courage he portrayed in the air in that game, he’s really made some big strides.
There’s a likeliness that Josh will play, but it has nothing to do with playing against the old team.

The F word…
What we’ve been able to put together in the back end of the year has been extremely encouraging.
When you’re not going so well as far as wins and losses go, just to continue to believe that you have it within you or that you’re going to see improvement within individuals and the team, is so important.
For the boys to continue to find it within themselves to discover the energy to give us a little bit of a look at it and start to be in the conversation, has been tremendous. We’re excited by that.

Dale Morris’ injury
He’s had that ACL repaired.
Normally you don’t see the boys after that kind of surgery for at least a week and a half to two weeks.
We won’t see him in here until next week. He’s keen to get in to see everyone and just stay involved.
What transpires with Dale’s future, we haven’t discussed from a list management perspective yet. We’ll include Dale in the conversations on what his desires are, and we’ll come up with a plan for him and his future once we’ve done that. We can’t really speculate, other than to say it’s such a shame.
As I said pre-game (last week), if he feels like he wants to go on and he’s happy enough with his place in the game at the level, then he’ll play on next year.
