There’s mixed news on the injury front, with defender Caleb Daniel set for a stint on the sidelines and Mitch Wallis in the frame to return this week.

Daniel sustained a moderate grade hamstring injury against Port Adelaide on Saturday night, which will rule him out for 3-4 weeks.

Enjoying a stellar season, the 22-year-old has become a vital member of the backline, averaging 27.4 disposals per match at 79 per cent efficiency.

Western Bulldogs medical services manager, Chris Bell, said Daniel reported hamstring tightness during the fourth quarter of the Dogs’ win over the Power.

“We didn’t want to take any risks with Caleb, so he sat out the last fifteen minutes of the game,” Bell said.

“Further assessment today has confirmed that Caleb has suffered a moderate grade hamstring injury.

MORRIS PASSES FIRST VFL TEST

“This will see him on the sidelines for the next three to four weeks.”

Meanwhile, Wallis completed a game-like session on the weekend, after missing the past three matches.

“The bone stress injury in Mitch’s ankle has tolerated the reload into our football program and he will return to full training this week,” Bell said.

“If he gets through training like we expect, he will return to availability this weekend.”
