Recently re-signed duo Rhylee West and Callum Porter have been added to an extended Western Bulldogs squad for Sunday’s clash with the GWS Giants at Giants Stadium in Sydney.
The young midfielders have been joined by defenders Lewis Young and Lachie Young – plus the 22 players from last week’s team that defeated Essendon – in a squad of 26 players.
West (29 disposals, four goals), Lewis Young (23 disposals, 15 marks) and the yet-to-debut Porter (35 disposals) all starred in a big win at VFL level last weekend.
There are no confirmed outs at this stage.
The squad will be reduced to a team of 22 at 5pm on Friday.
WEST RE-SIGNS UNTIL END OF 2022
With two rounds to play in the 2019 home-and-away season, the Bulldogs most likely need to win both of their matches to continue into September.
They sit in 10th spot on the ladder – just percentage behind eighth-placed Port Adelaide, four points behind seventh-placed Essendon and eight points behind the sixth-placed Giants.
The Giants have won the last three matches between the two sides – by an average margin of 44 points.
FORWARD CONTINUITY CREATING GOALS
But, the last time the Bulldogs and Giants met at Giants Stadium – then known as Spotless Stadium – the Bulldogs claimed one of the most memorable wins in the Club’s history, a six-point preliminary final win in 2016.
