Ahead of this year’s Charles Sutton Medal on Wednesday 2nd October, westernbulldogs.com.au reflects on the most recent winners of the Club’s best and fairest player award.
Tom Liberatore
After a stellar 2014 season, Tom Liberatore won the Club’s most prestigious award by an outstanding 67 vote margin.
In 2014, Liberatore was ranked first in the AFL for tackles and clearances, and fourth for contested possessions at just 22 years of age, establishing himself as one of the game’s elite midfielders in his fourth year of AFL football.
Also taking out the Club’s best team player and most courageous awards on the night, Liberatore also received his first All-Australian squad nomination for his outstanding 2014 year.

Following Liberatore in the Charles Sutton Medal count was then 20-year-old, Jack Macrae.
One of the leagues most improved players in 2014, Macrae was ranked fourth in the AFL for uncontested possessions and topped the Club’s disposals and marks tally, in just his second year.
Labelled as one of the Bulldogs’ most consistent players in recent years, Macrae showed impressive signs in 2014, becoming the youngest AFL player to reach over 40 disposals in a game.
The Western Bulldogs will crown this year’s Charles Sutton Medal to the best and fairest player of the 2019, on Wednesday October 2nd at Crown Palladium.
