Rhylee West will make his AFL debut for the Western Bulldogs this weekend.
The 19-year-old will pull on the red, white and blue in Sunday’s clash against Fremantle at Marvel Stadium.
Senior coach Luke Beveridge announced the news to the playing group today in a team meeting.
West, the son of one of the Bulldogs’ all-time greats, Scott, joined the Club with pick 26 in last year’s NAB AFL Draft.
He has had to bide his time at VFL level, with his debut coming on the back of a best afield performance for Footscray in last week’s win against Sandringham with 24 disposals and five tackles.
Averaging 19.3 disposals per match in his 13 games for the ‘Scray, West’s ability to win contested ball and apply pressure has come to the fore.
He becomes the fifth Bulldog to debut at AFL level in 2019, following Bailey Smith, Will Hayes, Lachie Young and Ryan Gardner.
