Jackson Macrae has capped off a terrific season by winning the John Van Groningen Domestique of the Year award.
The award, voted for by the AFL senior list, is presented to the player who places the team above the individual on-field.
Macrae’s selfless hard-running and ball-winning ability rose significantly alongside his leadership in 2018, with the 24-year-old joining recent winners in Zaine Cordy, Dale Morris and Easton Wood to be recognised by his peers.
In other recognitions of achievement, Jason Johannisen was awarded the Brad Johnson Best Team Player award.
Johannisen joined the Bulldogs’ leadership group in 2018 and captained the side in the absence of Easton Wood for his 100th match in Round 17.
Aaron Naughton received the Chris Grant Best First Year player award, capping off an impressive year where he played 18 games and received a NAB Rising Star Nomination in Round 23.
Josh Dunkley was awarded the Tony Liberatore Most Improved Player for his outstanding season which saw him achieve career-highs for disposals, clearances, tackles and inside 50s.
Dunkley also received the John Schultz Community Award for his work with the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation.
Despite a knee injury threatening to derail his first season at the Dogs, Hayden Crozier was awarded the Scott West Most Courageous Award.
