Jack Macrae will be the first of the 2012 National draftees to show his wares as a Bulldog after being selected to play in the first Round of the NAB Cup tonight at Etihad Stadium.

Assistant Coach Shannon Grant has been impressed with the development of the 18-year-old and expects Macrae to adapt quickly to senior football.

“Jack Macrae gets the opportunity and he’s done everything throughout the pre-season that we’ve asked of him and he’s just slotted in really well,” Grant said.

The other player to have Grant upbeat, is rookie powerhouse forward Jack Redpath.

Grant was instrumental in the recruitment of Redpath, after coaching the 22-year-old at Bendigo Bombers in 2009 and said he wants the forward to grab the opportunity to impress with both hands.

“Jack Redpath gets an opportunity in the second game – he has been working extremely hard on the areas that he’s needed to over the summer,” Grant said.

“Hopefully he takes his chance as well.”
