A kick after the siren for a win is a rare occurrence in footy, and even with 18 players on the mark, fans can feel powerless as the game hangs in the balance for 30 odd agonising seconds.
But Freedom in a Cage co-host Adi Brown has an idea about how fans can have a real impact from the other side of the fence. You can make all the noise you like, but players are used to that, so how about inflatables?
That’s right. 20-metre high fake goal posts.
“It’s a great theory that I have been sitting on for many years, Brown said. “I get these inflatable tubes, and they're white long sticks and I give them to every member of the cheer squad.
“If I just leave my car here I could probably make it if I run”: Ed’s sliding doors moment
“Not the little bashy ones, these are 20 metres high, but not yet because you haven't inflated them. They're like little balloons and at three quarter time, blow them all up, and whenever the opposition has a shot for goal, they’re up like 40 goal posts high.
“How do you know which ones to aim for?”
There’s only one problem, according to Brown. Stadium security.
“Can I check your bag? What's the air compressor for?”
