WESTERN Bulldogs captain Brad Johnson says he will play in his side's round one clash with Collingwood despite his disrupted pre-season.

The 33-year-old will resume full training next week after a calf-related achilles injury halted his summer training in January.

He plans to play in the Bulldogs' final NAB Cup/Challenge match the weekend after next and will then possibly look towards a VFL practice match the following week ahead of the March 28 clash with the Magpies.

Johnson believes he will be fit enough to play in the season opener with one or two matches under his belt.

"I didn't miss a beat until a couple of weeks ago so I've got enough of a fitness base behind me and it shouldn't be an issue leading into the first game," he said on Tuesday.

"The week after [the final NAB Cup/Challenge match], the decision will be made in regards to what part they want me to play, possibly at Williamstown, or do a hard session at the footy club."

Johnson was speaking at the launch of the AFL and Breast Cancer Network Australia's initiative, Field of Women.

He was joined by Melbourne captain James McDonald, who will lead the Demons' side against Johnson's Dogs in the round seven premiership match that will feature a powerful human display designed to highlight the growing number of Australians affected by breast cancer each year.

The event will see 14,000 people in pink ponchos and 100 men in blue form the shape of the BCNA's pink lady on the MCG before the match.

In the five years since the event was first staged at the MCG, the number of women diagnosed with the disease each year has grown from 11,500 to 14,000.

"It's a great opportunity to play a small part in creating the awareness and ensuring the support is out there for women with breast cancer," McDonald said.

Tickets to attend Field of Women LIVE 2010 cost $50 and will be available for purchase from Tuesday, 2 March.

Included in the ticket price is a pink poncho, a back pack and entry to the game. Free public transport on metropolitan and regional V/Line services is also included.
