Prismall chance for Dogs role
Brent Prismall is in consideration for Brett Goodes' job, the man who beat him to a spot on the Dogs rookie list
Goodes and Prismall were battling for the final position on the club's list on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs decided to pass on their only NAB AFL Pre-Season Draft pick and instead use it in the Rookie Draft, where Goodes edged out the former Essendon and Geelong midfielder for the place.
But Prismall might not be lost to the club, with the 26-year-old a strong candidate to take over the welfare role.
"The club is working through our options in relation to how to best service our player well-being program following the addition of Brett Goodes to the Bulldogs' playing group," Bulldogs football manager James Fantasia told AFL.com.au.
"Once the details are finalised we will be conducting a process to canvass the best person for the role.
"We would absolutely encourage Brent to be a part of this process given he has shown himself to be an individual of great character and strength."
Prismall already has considerable links at the Bulldogs.
He has a close relationship with coach Brendan McCartney from his time at the Cats and Bombers, and is a former teammate with assistant coaches Steven King, Matthew Scarlett and Cameron Mooney.
Prismall was limited to only 61 AFL games by two knee reconstructions and a run of soft-tissue injuries as he attempted to return from injury this year.
