The AFL has today announced the 2025 Smithy’s VFL and rebel VFLW fixtures, with both of the Bulldogs’ state-league teams set to host home season openers.

The fixture release includes the full schedule for VFL Rounds 1-13 and Rounds 1-9 of VFLW.

Footscray will begin their campaign against the Northern Bullants at Mission Whitten Oval on Saturday 22 March, before a bye in Round 2.

The Dogs will then play six of their next seven games in Melbourne, with an interstate trip against GWS in Round 5.

The VFLW Bulldogs will enjoy back-to-back home games in the opening fortnight; Round 1 against Williamstown on Sunday 20 April and Round 2 against Darebin on Saturday 26 April.

A Grand Final rematch is scheduled for Round 5, with the Dogs to meet North Melbourne at Arden Street Oval on Saturday 17 May.

Two league-wide byes will occur in between Rounds 6-7 and Rounds 7-8. 

Four double-headers have also been fixtured: Sunday 20 April, Saturday 3 May, Saturday 10 May and Sunday 22 June.

Match ups for Rounds 14-21 of the Smithy’s VFL and Rounds 10-14 of the rebel VFLW have also been announced. Venues and times for those rounds will be confirmed after the corresponding rounds of the AFL fixture are announced later in the year.
