The Bulldogs have acquired tall forward Lou Stephenson from the Hawks as part of a blockbuster four-club trade this morning.

Stephenson, 29, has played 50 AFLW games for GWS and Hawthorn, adding depth and experience to the Hawks' forward line this season after moving from the backline.

The trade – which involved Adelaide, GWS, Hawthorn and the Bulldogs – also saw defender Eleanor Brown depart the Club to join the Giants.

Brown played 39 games for the red, white and blue, finishing runner-up in the 2022 best and fairest and earning a NAB Rising Star nomination in her debut season.

Brown requested a trade at the beginning of the AFLW Trade Period.

Bulldogs AFLW List Manager Dan Fisher was pleased to secure Stephenson who is expected to bring experience and knowledge to the forward half.

“Lou’s work rate and ability to compete aerially impressed us this season,” Fisher said.

“Her experience and leadership will be invaluable to our young forward group.

"She’s played more of her AFLW footy as a key back, so offers a bit of flexibility, but it’s that forward role we see her moving into.

“She’s a high-quality person who will fit in seamlessly with our players and staff.

Fisher also acknowledged Brown for her contribution to the Club.

“Eleanor has been with us for six years and provided plenty to our group, particularly in the backline,” he said.

“We thank her for everything she’s given at the Kennel and wish her all the best at GWS.”

The Bulldogs draft hand now sits at picks 7, 25 and 48 ahead of next Monday's draft.
