The Western Bulldogs have welcomed creative midfielder-forward Josh Dolan to the Kennel on Night 2 of the 2024 Telstra AFL Draft.
Taken with Pick 31 from the Sandringham Dragons and Beaumaris, Dolan was touted as one of the draft’s most underrated prospects.
While a meniscus injury hindered his campaign towards the back-end of the year, Dolan’s impact at the Dragons was evident early - picking up a season-best 28 disposals, six inside 50s and a goal in his second-last game.
He followed this up with 26 disposals, another six inside 50s and a goal the next week before bowing out through injury.
He booted a goal in every Coates Talent League game he played.
Dolan also played a part in Brighton Grammar’s APS title win this year, and played three of four games for Vic Metro – later proving critical in the championships decider with two goals from 10 disposals.

Here’s what CODE Sports had to say about him:
A hard-working half-forward who can also go through the midfield, Dolan is a hard runner and a neat and creative ball-user. He was part of Sandringham’s premiership side in the Coates Talent League as a bottom-age player last year and has taken further strides with his game this season. Dolan played in three of Vic Metro’s four matches in the under-18 national championships, particularly impressing in his match against Western Australia. He logged 19 disposals, four marks, 11 score involvements and kicked two goals that day. He also kicked two goals in the side’s final match against Vic Country. In addition to regular half-forward duties, Dolan has impressed spending time as an onballer with the Dragons this year.
