Western Bulldogs coach Tam Hyett says there has been plenty of growth in her side across the 2024 NAB AFLW Season.
The Bulldogs finished their campaign under the first-year coach with four wins from 11 games – a significant improvement from last year.
““Proud is probably an understatement. The growth that we’ve had...from Round 1, we were probably basing things on hope – hoping we would do well – to then finish Round 10 after 11 games with really strong belief within this group,” Hyett told media following the Walyalup game on Sunday evening.
“We’ve been able to play well against a couple of really strong finals sides -there’s a lot we can take from that, and knowing that a lot of our game stacks up.”
Hyett said while their final outing wasn’t the result they wanted, there are plenty of lessons they will take into next season.
“We probably didn’t have enough of the footy today to be able to damage (Fremantle) on the scoreboard or inside 50, but we know that we’ve made big steps,” she said.
“We’ve still got areas to grow (in), but that’s what is exciting about this group.
“I think there’s parts of our offensive game that are good but probably need to have a little more polish when we’ve got the footy.
“There are little bits we can tweak. Our contest stuff was pretty good all year – we probably got beaten with the contest stuff today – but we’ll look into that.
“We’re only 11 games in to where we want to get to.
“We see (this season) as a comma, not a full stop. It’s a really good launching pad into 2025.”
