Western Bulldogs leader Jess Fitzgerald says it was special to celebrate her 50th game with a win over the Saints.

The 22-year-old flew to 50 AFLW games – having played every possible match since her debut – but said it was not something she took for granted.

“Having not missed a game is something I do take pride in – but I also feel very fortunate to have been picked for every game,” Fitzgerald said post-win.

“I just love this Club and I love this group of girls. They made me feel pretty special this week.

Fitzgerald finished with a game-high 26 touches, six clearances and a goal, but was particularly proud of her teammates.

“It was really tough out there to be honest – I knew it was going to be a four-quarter performance from us – but I think there were some awesome little moments from each individual player,” she said.

“You could literally name anyone on the field, and they did their job which is awesome. I am just so proud of the group.

“A couple of weeks ago things really started to click for us - being such a young group, we just hadn’t played with one another for very long at all.

“To be growing each week is a success for us.”

The Bulldogs will meet Walyalup (Fremantle) in the final match of the 2024 NAB AFLW season this Sunday evening in WA.
