The Western Bulldogs can confirm that after almost a decade of service to the red, white and blue, Head of Development and Training Jamie Maddocks will depart the Club for an opportunity interstate.

Maddocks joined the Bulldogs coaching panel at the end of the 2015 season, playing an important role in the drought-breaking 2016 premiership as part of the coaching panel, both as a development coach and opposition analyst.

In 2020, the former TAC Cup assistant coach was promoted to Development Manager, with the critical task of preparing young Bulldogs for life as an AFL player.

Recently as Head of Development and Training, Maddocks has overseen the growth and development of players while facilitating and organising all training sessions alongside the football department.

Maddocks couldn’t have been prouder of his time at the Club.

“I am profoundly grateful for the opportunities afforded to me by Luke Beveridge and the Western Bulldogs. Departing from this organisation has been a difficult decision,” Maddocks said.

“I have had the time of my life in the 9-year journey at this club. I have been shaped by the coaches who have come and gone and by those who remain. I cannot thank them enough.

“While I look forward to embracing a new opportunity, I will look back with fond memories and a sense of pride that I was a part of the Bulldog family.”

Senior Coach Luke Beveridge payed tribute to the impact Maddocks has had at the Kennel across his nine seasons.

“From Jamie's commencement at the end of 2015, in various roles, he has had a significant impact on our performance and our environment,” Beveridge said.

“From helping us win that elusive flag in 2016, across the peaks and more difficult times through the pandemic, Jamie has been a resilient and hard-working member of our team.

“He has forged a strong reputation for being able to teach the game, develop AFL players and contribute in an assertive way on match day.

“His contributions and his character will be missed."
