Western Bulldogs midfielder Isabelle Pritchard says there has been a positive energy around the Club this week ahead of Friday’s double-header at the MCG.

Pritchard, a childhood Dogs supporter, couldn’t contain her excitement at playing on the hallowed turf joining SEN 1116 on Wednesday afternoon.

“We’re all really excited. There’s a lot of positive energy around at the Club at the moment – the boys are up and about to be playing finals again, and I think for us girls we’re just so pumped to be playing on the MCG,” Pritchard said.

“I don’t think many of us ever thought we’d get this opportunity so we’re really looking forward to it.

“There’s nothing like a home game at Whitten – that’s pretty special – but I don’t think it’s really hit me yet.

“I think when I’m standing out on the field looking at the seats towering above me, it might be a bit of a pinch-me moment.”

Pritchard acknowledged the group’s Week 1 outing was far from ideal, but was confident the team can turn things around against Port Adelaide on Friday night.

“(Port) have got some good young talent, and they’ve also got Kirsty Lamb who left us last year – so we know what we’re coming up against,” she said.

“We’re ready for it – they play some fast footy and high pressure, but we like to bring pressure and contest to our own game so that’s what we’ll try and do.

“(Last week) was a bit disappointing – we were hoping for a win to start us off, but I think there were still a lot of positives to come out of it, particularly in the second quarter where we played some really good footy but we just weren’t able to capitalise.

“With a young group, it’s hard to stay consistent for the whole four quarters but it’s something we are working on. We’re hopeful we can achieve that this Friday.”

Following the AFLW match at 4.30pm, the AFL Bulldogs will host Hawthorn in an Elimination Final in a Dogs’ double-header delight. Tickets will be valid for both games.
