The Dogs showed unwavering determination all match against the hard-fought Dolphins, finishing with the 11.8 (74) to 16.5 (101) win.

Footscray’s vigour was evident in the opening term, applying defensive pressure to Frankston at every opportunity.

However, despite the Dogs leading the inside 50 count 31 to 19 by half time, the Dolphins were hot on their tails, with their efficiency inside 50 allowing them to better capitalise on opportunities.

The same story played out after the main break, as frequent momentum shifts kept both teams within scoring reach of one another.

However, the Dogs gained control in the back end of the third term extending their lead slightly over the home side.

Footscray’s pressure remained relentless throughout the final quarter, allowing the boys in the red, white and blue to close out the game with a 27-point lead.

Jack Macrae played another stellar match in the VFL side, coming away as the game’s highest ball winner with 36 disposals, 17 clearances along with two goals, while Ryley Sanders was close behind with 35 disposals and 11 clearances.
