The Western Bulldogs will be known as the Footscray Football Club during the week of its 2024 Retro Round, which commemorates the 70th anniversary of the 1954 VFL Premiership.

This change will be effective from Monday 29 July to Sunday 4 August, paying homage to the Club’s first premiership team which won its flag as Footscray, beating Melbourne by 51 points at the MCG.

As part of the change, the club will temporarily revert back to its 1954 logo – which will be used across the club’s social media accounts and website as well as broadcast channels throughout the week - while the team will don an era-inspired guernsey for its upcoming Round 21 Friday night clash against Melbourne.

The guernsey will feature collars, a 1954 premiership cup on the front, and a tribute on the back.

The Bulldogs Shop has also revealed its exclusive 2024 Retro Round merchandise range, featuring a rugby top, and Footscray Bulldogs beanie and cap.

The round will also provide the opportunity to celebrate the club remaining at its spiritual home for the last 130 years after the official re-opening of Mission Whitten Oval last week.
