The Footscray Bulldogs are back on the winners list after securing victory over North Melbourne at Arden Street Oval on Saturday afternoon.

After a slow start in the first half, the Dogs fought hard against the Roos in the 10.3 (63) to 14.13 (97) triumph.

The crucial win now catapults Footscray back to top of the VFL ladder.

A dominant Roos outfit came out to play in the first half, leaving the Dogs struggling to maintain effective possessions and efficiency in front of goals.

Scores from Lachlan McNeil, Jordan Croft and Jordan Busslinger kept the red, white and blue in the midst, but the lack of accuracy in front of the big sticks saw the Dogs trail by seven points heading into the main change.

A different story ensued after the break as the ‘Scray emerged revitalised to take the lead from a once-prevailing North Melbourne side.

It was an 11-to-five goal affair in the second half with the Dogs dominating around forward 50.

Despite the fourth quarter being a back-and-forth scoring affair, Footscray’s earlier efforts saw them lock away the much-needed victory.

Caleb Daniel remained consistent all match finishing with 20 disposals and two goals, while Croft led the way for scoring finishing with a game-high three goals.

Footscray will now turn its sights to next Saturday to face Werribee at Avalon Airport Oval.
