Western Bulldogs defender Alex Keath has praised young tall Sam Darcy for his impact this season.

The 20-year-old will be sidelined for the next two games through suspension, but has impressed his teammates, particularly Keath, with his versatility and approach in 2024.

“He’s awesome, big Darc. He’s incredible around the group,” Keath told SEN 1116 on Wednesday afternoon.

“When I was a young player...I certainly didn’t have the ball focus or aggression he does. It’s just incredible.

“He’s got a pretty slight-on frame, but his courage and attack on the contest is phenomenal.

“He’s pretty special to play with – we’ll certainly miss him for the next couple of weeks but we’ll keep him nice and fit, and he’ll be raring to go for the second half of the year.”

Having now won three of their past four outings – including a spirited loss with three players down to the ladder-leaders – Keath believes the group is hitting their strides.

“We’ve had a few challenges at the start of the season, and our last month or so has been pretty strong,” he said.

“We were weathering the storm a little bit as most teams are, with a few injuries and availability issues throughout the league, but our depth is holding up really well at the moment.

“We probably got back to our fundamentals - our pressure at the contest has increased, as far as I think the numbers would show.

“Beyond that, it's just been nice to find a little bit of form as a group. Hopefully we can push on now and keep putting some points on the board.”

The Bulldogs will host Brisbane at Marvel Stadium tomorrow night from 7.40pm.
