The Footscray Bulldogs have stretched their winning streak to nine consecutive games in the 2024 VFL season after defeating Collingwood by 38 points at Marvel Stadium on Friday night.
While the final scoreline of 8.11 (59) to 14.13 (97) suggests a comfortable victory for Footscray, the contest on the ground was far more competitive.
Despite having lost their last five games, Collingwood started the match aggressively, scoring two goals within the first 10 minutes while Footscray only managed two behinds.
Back-to-back goals from Oskar Baker ignited the 'Scray's momentum, with additional crucial goals from Jordan Croft, Trent Bianco and Caleb Poulter propelling the Bulldogs to a 10-point lead at quarter time.
The second and third quarters were closely contested, with both teams struggling to convert crucial goal opportunities and secure marks inside 50. Errors plagued both sides, but Footscray's resilience kept them ahead.
