Footscray midfielder Trent Bianco says he is enjoying his time at the Kennel in 2024.

Bianco, formerly on Collingwood’s AFL list, joined the Bulldogs’ VFL program this season and has made an immediate impact on-field, while also being added to the leadership group.

“I’m really happy with the decision I made to come over to the West,” Bianco told the VFL/W State Of Play podcast on Tuesday.

“There were obviously a few options when I was deciding which club I wanted to play at, but I’m very happy at the Footscray Bulldogs at the moment. I’m looking forward to the next few weeks – I’m not looking too far ahead.

“I just want to keep playing some good footy – I feel like I’m in some good form at the moment so want to keep that up.”

Bianco has also enjoyed leaning on fellow ex-Pie-turned-Bulldog Caleb Poulter, particularly in regards to his journey back onto an AFL list.

“It’s been good playing with him again the last few weeks. We have similar stories – played a few years at Collingwood and then moved over to Footscray.

“He got picked up basically straight-away, so I do want to follow in his footsteps. That would be nice.

“He’s been someone to lean on.”

The VFL Bulldogs currently sit undefeated at the top of the ladder with a game in hand, following a 13-point win over Box Hill.

Bianco said the winning culture at the Kennel was evident to him, even before the season started.

“It was another good win again – we’re sitting firmly on top of the ladder so hopefully we can have a few more (wins),” he said.

“Coming from a pretty successful club (in Collingwood) the last few years, I definitely walked in and knew that the VFL program was doing something right.

“I walked into a good bunch of guys and coaches who are willing to put in some time, and most importantly players who are willing to put in time themselves after long days on the tools or things like that.

“It’s a great culture.”

The Bulldogs will look to keep their perfect streak intact when they meet Richmond at the Swinburne Centre on Sunday afternoon.
