The Footscray Bulldogs delivered a commanding win against Williamstown on Saturday afternoon, overpowering the hosts with an impressive 43-point triumph at DSV Stadium.
Despite facing challenging conditions, the Bulldogs’ determination and skill in the 6.5 (41) to 12.12 (84) win saw them claim top of the ladder by the end of the round, as the only remaining undefeated side in the league.
From the opening bounce, it was evident that one side of the oval held a distinct advantage, with 11 out of 12 Footscray goals being slotted through on that side.
The Bulldogs capitalised on this, particularly in the second term where they added six goals to one to take a 36-point lead into the main break – a buffer they ultimately held until the end.
A highlight of the game was Joel Freijah's debut goal for the Bulldogs, marking a memorable moment for the draftee.
It was Trent Bianco who truly stole the spotlight, earning the title of best on ground for his exceptional performance.
Bianco's remarkable display included three pivotal goals, 26 disposals and seven tackles, demonstrating his versatility and impact across the ground.
Charlie Clarke and Dominic Bedendo each contributed two goals and 10 disposals, while Caleb Daniel was solid with 20 touches and a goal.
Clarke's defensive efforts were particularly noteworthy, tallying an impressive nine tackles to stifle Williamstown's attacking momentum.
The Bulldogs will have a bye this weekend, before hosting Box Hill at Mission Whitten Oval on Sunday 5 May.
