With the 2017 playing list now finalised, westernbulldogs.com.au can reveal the guernsey numbers the players will be wearing in the new season.
Defender Marcus Adams, who wore number 24 in the WAFL, has shifted to the closest available option, the number 25 worn by Hall of Fame full back Herb Henderson during the 1950s, while Travis Cloke has taken Daniel Giansiracusa’s former number 13.
Draftee Patrick Lipinski has taken over Will Minson’s number 27, while Fergus Greene will wear number 30, a jumper worn by Ross Abbey and premiership player Joel Hamling.
Brian Royal played 199 games between 1983-93 in the number 33, and Alan Hopkins, the Club’s first Brownlow Medallist wore it for 151 games in the late 1920’s, early 1930s. That number has gone to 17-year old draftee Lewis Young.
Number one draft pick Tim English has taken Mark Hunter’s old number 44, young tall Nathan Mullenger-McHugh will wear 40, and Catergory B Rookie signing Tristan Tweedie will wear 45.
