Western Bulldogs forward-turned-defender Gabby Newton has been voted into the 2023 AFLPA’s 22under22 team.
It marks a second inclusion for the former number one draft pick, who was last named in the 2020 team.
22-year-old Newton also featured in every match this season, registering career-best disposals (21) against West Coast, marks (nine) against St Kilda and metres-gained (407m) against Sydney.
She averaged 15 disposals, four marks and three tackles for the season.
Newton was the Bulldogs’ sole representative, named on the half-back flank, with Isabelle Pritchard and Elisabeth Georgostathis also named in the squad of 44.
22Under22, presented by Local Expert, is a fan-voted concept that recognises the best 22 players aged 22 and under for the entirety of the season (including Grand Final day).
For a player to be eligible, they must have played 50% of the home and away season.
