Talking Points

Moments forged by First Nations

Round eight will commemorate the second week of 2023 AFLW Indigenous Round.

As part of the celebrations, the Bulldogs will again wear guernseys designed by proud Kerrup-Mara Gunditjmara and Yorta Yorta man Jason Walker.

The design represents Mirring (country) on Gunditjmara, where the Bulldogs are affiliated with in south-west Victoria, and is inspired by the Lake Condah Possum Skin Cloak.

More information on the guernsey design can be viewed here.

There’s no place like home

The Bulldogs will return to VU Whitten Oval this weekend in front of the red, white and blue faithful, and have plenty planned for Indigenous Round.

Get there nice and early for a performance by Ngargee Youth Dance group, followed by a live Welcome to Country at 1pm.

At half-time, the crowd will hear form the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation’s Nallei Jerring program, while at three-quarter time the CoinSpot Handball challenge will take place.

Lamb on track for record disposals

Midfield bull Kirsty Lamb could add her name to the history books this weekend, needing just 30 disposals to reach 1000 career disposals.

The Foundation Bulldog and premiership player has not missed a match this season, averaging 15 disposals, three marks and six tackles.

Saturday will also mark her 65th outing in the red, white and blue – the second most by a Bulldog, behind captain Ellie Blackburn (66 games).
