Veteran Dale Morris will remain a Western Bulldogs player until at least the end of 2015, after agreeing to a new one-year deal.
The 31-year-old has continued his strong form since breaking his leg in 2011, playing 37 of the past 39 games and finishing in the top five of the Club’s best and fairest award last season.
This season, the 2008 All-Australian ranks in the AFL’s top 15 players for one-percenters, and has comparable stats to last year’s strong showing.
Morris has also relished the role of guiding and teaching the emerging Bulldogs key position defenders, and said it is a major reason for re-signing.
“Not only am I really enjoying my footy at the moment and what I can contribute on match days, but I can see some real growth in our younger defenders and that’s encouraging.”
“It was an easy decision. I love this Club, and I’m excited about its future.”
Bulldogs List Manager Jason McCartney said securing Morris’ services for another season was an important step for the Club.
“Dale has been ultra-consistent both on and off the field and will continue to be a key person for our younger players coming through,” McCartney said.
“It goes without saying just how valued and respected Dale is at our footy Club.”
Morris joins fellow veteran defender Bob Murphy in signing a contract extension in recent weeks.
