It was the even contribution from the youngest player on the ground to the oldest that pleased veteran Daniel Giansiracusa most in Saturday’s win against Carlton.

Running out 28-point victors, the Bulldogs continued to build on their strong form over the past month, with their high pressure brand of football.

“It was a pretty level performance from the boys today – a real team effort,” Giansiracusa said.

“I haven’t seen us move the ball that well for a while.

“It was pleasing, we were challenged in that third quarter, they really came at us and gave us everything that they’ve got.”

The Bulldogs boasted over 100 more effective disposals against Carlton, as well as leading in a range of key indicators, including clearances (WB 47,Carl 40), tackles (79, 69) and inside 50s (70, 49).

Inaccuracy in front of goals prevented the Bulldogs from creating a comfortable buffer early, and a third quarter comeback from the Blues made for some nervous moments.

But the young side maintained their composure and continued their pressure to finish the game strongly.

“We kicked 16 [goals], 21 [behinds], so there were probably five or six goals there we should have kicked,” he said.

“To the boys credit it was good to really grind them down and get a really comprehensive win in the end.”

Giansiracusa continued to lead by example in the Bulldogs forward half finishing with two goals, five marks, eight inside 50s and a goal assist.

With clashes against Adelaide Crows (12th), Brisbane Lions (13th) and Melbourne (17th) on the run home, the Bulldogs are looking for a strong finish to set up their pre-season campaign.

“We are under no illusions that there are no easy games in the AFL anymore,” he said.

“It’s good that we are showing progress and wins just give you the confidence that you are heading in the right direction.

“We are really keen to make sure that we finish the year off on a strong note and head in to next year on a high.”
