The Dogs have not progressed past the preliminary final stage of the past three years and lost experienced trio Brad Johnson, Nathan Eagleton and Jason Akermanis at the end of last season, but Giansiracusa is adamant his team remains capable of taking out this year's premiership.
"It's a new year. You take the experiences of the last few years, I think you use those, but we've got new players into the club and it's going to be totally different," Giansiracusa said from AFL House on Wednesday.
"It's been documented that we've lost some experience, but what we've gained is going to be fantastic for us. That's how we've embraced the pre-season - that it's something new and we've moved on as Collingwood has as premiers.
"You hear them talk about moving on and focusing on this year and that's what we're doing as a footy club as well."
Coach Rodney Eade is entering his seventh season at the club and falls out of contract at the end of the year, but Giansiracusa said that situation had no bearing on the side's on-field fortunes.
"The same thing happened last year when he signed a two-year deal," he said.
"Rodney came out during the week and said that he's happy to wait until the end of the season [to negotiate a new deal]. With everyone at the club it's all about performance this year.
"We love playing for Rocket, he's a fantastic coach; if we play good footy I'm sure that will take care of itself."
The Bulldogs open their NAB Cup campaign on Sunday against Geelong and North Melbourne at Skilled Stadium.
Giansiracusa said preparation for round one and not a repeat of last year's pre-season series win was the team's primary focus.
"I think as a club we go into any game wanting to win, but as you've seen with other clubs, you do want to play as many players as you can," he said.
"We haven't set out to win it or anything like that, but we've still got the motto that we go out to win any game that we participate in.
"There's going to be different personnel and some guys will miss, but we'll see where it takes us from there."
The hype surrounding the Bulldogs after Barry Hall kicked seven goals to steer them to victory over St Kilda in the NAB Cup grand final quickly dissipated as they struggled to three wins and three losses to start the premiership season.
Giansiracusa, however, maintained the strong pre-season showing had nothing to do with their slow start.
"I thought it was great to have that experience in a big game … it was a good thing," he said.
"Our opponent was someone we thought we would be playing in the finals later in the year and expectation came on us.
"If you're up the top of the ladder you're going to have to prepare for that. Some would say that we didn't handle that expectation really well, but all in all, I think to have players play in a big game like that was a good thing."
