With just a month of the home-and-away season remaining, Dogs duo Marcus Bontempelli and Tom Liberatore could rewrite the stat record books by the end of 2023.

Bontempelli is just three tackles off his personal best – 138 tackles in 2017 – and is chasing down teammate Liberatore in first place.

The Bulldogs skipper is travelling at an average of only 0.75 less than Liberatore’s 2014 record and Club all-time high, where he tallied 173 tackles from 22 games.

In other records, Liberatore has managed 147 clearances so far this season, jumping into equal-10^th for the most clearances in a season in Club history.

Remarkably, the father-son favourite holds four of the top-five spots for Bulldogs’ clearances, including the current record – 189 clearances in 2021.

If he continues to record at least eight clearances in the final four hit-outs of the home-and-away season, he’ll finish with 179 - nudging out vice-captain Jack Macrae to complete a clean sweep of the top three.

Macrae currently sits third for most clearances in a season with 177 in 2021.

Bontempelli isn’t far off his personal-best clearance tally either, needing just three more to equal his 143 in 2021.
