We have four fun facts to begin your working week:
- The Western Bulldogs' win over Sydney on Friday night gave the Dogs a 2-0 start to the season for the third year in a row. The Bulldogs have only achieved that feat twice before, winning the first two games of the season in 1945-46-47 and in 1960-61-62.
- Friday's win was the Bulldogs' first over Sydney at Etihad Stadium. The Dogs had previously lost to the Swans at the venue in 2012 by 82 points, 2013 by 35 points and 2014 by 63 points.
- The Bulldogs have now won their last three round 2 encounters with Sydney, having beaten the Swans by 62 points at the SCG in round 2, 1990 and by seven points at Princes Park in round 2, 1997. Overall, the two sides have met 10 times in round 2, with each side winning five matches.
- Friday night's crowd of 42,834 was the third-highest ever to see the Bulldogs play the Swans. The largest crowd ever to witness to the two sides was, of course, the 99,981 who attended last year's Grand Final. The five highest attended matches between the two teams have all been won by the Bulldogs. They are:
2016 Grand Final: Western Bulldogs 13.11.89 d Sydney 10.7.67 (crowd 99,981)
1997 Qualifying Final: Western Bulldogs 18.11.119 d Sydney 12.12.84 (62,432)
2017 Round 2: Western Bulldogs 16.14.110 d Sydney 13.9.87 (42,834)
