Inside the numbers
The Dogs won the inside 50 count 61-47, for 28 shots at goal to 24 but conceded 13 scoring shots, including eight goals, from the defensive half.
For those with a keen eye on the AFL Fantasy scores, the Bulldogs had two of the top three highest scoring players on the ground, Jason Johannisen was number one with 129 points, and Lachie Hunter was number three with 111.
Both the Bulldogs and Collingwood scored over half their scores from intercept possessions, scoring 69 points each. Hawthorn led the league in 2015 with 67 points per game from this scoring source.
Stat of the day
Tom Boyd grabbed a game-high five marks inside the forward 50. His previous career-high was four.
You can quote me on that...
"As always, we’ll look at [the game] in detail and we’ll see what we did right. We stuck to our structures well and we saw what happened on the scoreboard, but then a couple of things fell away in the second half, but we’ll definitely take some positives from that first half."
- Lachie Hunter
"We had some really good patches, and we really know what it feels like now to play with the four on the interchange and the 90 rotations. So, we take some positives, but we've got some things to work on."
- Luke Beveridge
