Jedd Busslinger
12 disposals, six marks
“Having Keathy and Brucey back in the fold with Croz meant Jedd was able to get some really good direction. That continuity for our young guys and being able to play consistently and build on what they’re doing each week has been a positive step. No doubt Jedd would’ve benefitted from those older guys around him, so he’s heading in the right direction.”
Charlie Clarke
11 disposals, four tackles
“Clarkey played forward again and was really good. He ran some really good patterns to get himself involved, and also to help out his teammates. Off a short run-up, again this continuity for our young guys has been key.”
Hayden Crozier
21 disposals, nine marks, two rebound 50s, one goal
“Croz just keeps on keeping on. Being that older head – especially when we get out to a good start – to help continue that and drive that from within, was great from him.”
Sam Darcy
13 disposals, six marks, nine hit-outs, one goal
“Darc had obviously missed a little chunk of footy. It could’ve been a massive day for the big fella if he had his kicking boots on (finishing with one goal and five behinds) – he could’ve had a real impact on the scoreboard, but it was good to just see him back out there. Being his first game back, you always expect it to be a tough one so hopefully next week he can kick a little bit straighter for us.”
Harvey Gallagher
14 disposals, six marks, three inside 50s
“Harvs has been great. The knowledge he’s been able to soak up from last week and then transfer that into the playing arena has been first class. It’s a nice building block for him – hopefully like the other guys, he can get a good chunk of footy together. It was a really impressive game from him.”
Rhylee West
15 disposals, four marks, four tackles, two inside 50s, two goals
“Westy has had a good few weeks. To see him double down again –he also benefitted from our start and was able to get on the end of a few in that first quarter to really send us on our way. I thought the application and process he demonstrated was at an AFL standard.”
Toby McLean
19 disposals, three marks, six tackles, four inside 50s, six clearances
“Tobes was good through the midfield. Having a very experienced side, having that older head around the ball helped us get the advantage from Sweety and Tobes really drove that.”
Josh Bruce
16 disposals, seven marks, three rebound 50s
“It was nice to get another game under Brucey’s belt. His leadership and talk, and the way he conducts himself is great for our younger guys to learn off. He really drove that. It seemed like nothing was able to get past him or around him either with his intercept marking. It was a solid performance.”
Laith Vandermeer
18 disposals, three marks, two inside 50s
“Laith was good off half-back - he gave us plenty of drive. It was one of those ones where with more exposure to that half-back role, he seems to be transferring that knowledge from Jamie (Maddocks) onto the field. It looks pretty dangerous with him coming off half-back.”
Alex Keath
21 disposals, six marks, three rebound 50s
“Keathy takes everything in his stride. He was able to intercept and give us drive off our last line to generate scores and rebound. His experience and his class is brilliant.”
Buku Khamis
Eight disposals, four marks, six hit-outs, one goal
“Buks was good – having Sam out there meant he didn’t directly get involved as much as he would’ve liked with the ball in hand, but what he does do is soak up another defender and become another aerial and ground threat. He was able to open up the play a lot more – rather than get on the end of it – which we really rate because it helps his teammates too. What he did for his teammates around him was first class.”
Robbie McComb
24 disposals, three tackles, four inside 50s, five clearances, one goal
“Robbie brought an awesome burst of speed out from the stoppage. He really took advantage of our dominance in the ruck, and it was nice to see him run the game out for the whole four quarters.”
Mitch Hannan
10 disposals, six marks, three goals
“Mitch came out of the game at three-quarter time but up until that point, his aerial and ground work was at a premium. He hit the scoreboard as well from that small-hybrid forward role which was awesome. It was another good one from Mitchy.”
Luke Cleary
26 disposals, 11 marks, six rebound 50s
“Clizz was great. I probably sound like a broken record, but having that experience in the backline meant he was able to play with a bit more freedom and confidence. He was able to generate some of our rebounds too, so it was a nice one for Clizz to have a really good impact.”
Roarke Smith
11 disposals, two marks, two inside 50s
“It’s been a long layoff for Roarkey, so it was awesome to have him back out there. His capabilities were like he hadn’t missed a game – he was able to really hold back and stretch the ground for us offensively, and then get back on the last line and with his run be able to create width to get use or allow his teammates to benefit from it. It was a nice one for Roarkey to get out of the way.”
Cody Raak
Nine disposals, three marks, one goal
“Raaky was pretty lively. He scored a goal and was able to lay a few tackles – as a small forward, it was a nice game for him to piece together. It was another week playing forward, which he’s settling right into.
Jordon Sweet
10 disposals, nine tackles, five inside 50s, 40 hit-outs, five clearances
“Sweety had a lot of dominance in the ruck, which gave our mids first-use. What was most impressive though was his follow-up work and tackles around the ground – he ended up with nine tackles, so for our big men to have that sort of presence is invaluable.”
Caleb Poulter
17 disposals, two marks, three inside 50s
“It’s been a big week for Poults. Obviously it’s not foreign to him – being on an AFL list – but for him to just pick up (our gameplan) and play his role was great. He’s happy to play where the team needs him and doesn’t make a fuss about it. He played a bit of wing and half-back, so we’re looking forward to seeing what he can produce in the back half of this year.”
