There’s no questioning the dedication and loyalty of the red, white and blue faithful.

A record 41,944 patrons showed up for the Dogs-Cats clash on Saturday night, marking the Club’s biggest home crowd since 2017, and second 40k+ home turnout this season.

Speaking post-game, livewire forward Cody Weightman said the team is so grateful for the support of the Bulldogs’ members and fans, despite not being able to get the job done for them against Geelong.

“A lot of our boys feed on our crowd’s energy, and you really saw them turn up. You could hear them and feel that energy,” he said post-game.

“We love our faithful and personally, I absolutely love our crowd and feeding off that. Hopefully there’s more of that to come.”

The Bulldogs will have a chance at redemption this Friday night, hosting Port Adelaide at Marvel Stadium.

Weightman said the playing group is well aware of the missed opportunities this past fortnight, and understands where they need to improve.

“We were in the game but didn’t execute our basics that we normally do,” he said.

“We pride ourselves on being a skilful team, but at the end of the day (the lack of) that hurt us. Geelong was able to punish us off the back of that.

“It was a great opportunity to beat them - we felt like we were really in it, but we let it get away.

“Some skill errors and stuff didn’t play out the way we would’ve liked, but we look forward to Port Adelaide.

“We’ll look to get the four points off them that they got off us earlier in the year.”

Friday night’s clash will also coincide with the Club’s 140-year anniversary. Tickets are on sale now.
