Jason Tutt is a player with a fantastic mix of speed, endurance and silky foot skills.  Last night like so many others he waited nervously for his name to be called and admits he was surprised when the Bulldogs selected him with Pick 31.

“It has only just sunken in now, the whole night was just a surreal experience.  I am just very happy to be coming to the Western Bulldogs Football Club,” Tutt said.

Tutts nerves were eased soon after his selection, a congratulatory message from Western Bulldogs Captain Brad Johnson was a welcome suprise for the new recruit.

“He just said congratulations and that he looks forward to meeting me and working hard together as we strive for success,” Tutt said.

Tutt admits that there were initially mixed feelings about leaving the ACT, but now he cannot wait to get down to the Whitten Oval and put in the hard yards with the rest of the team.

The last AFL player to hail from the Canberra suburb of Ainslie was former Essendon captain James Hird, but that is irrelevant to the youngster who simply wants to make a name for himself with the Bulldogs.

“I just want to stay loyal to the Club and play all my football there, I am so excited to start the pre-season,” Tutt said.

Playing Senior football in 2010 is at the top of Tutt’s priorities next year and he has already pencilled in the ideal date for his debut.

“I really just want to make my debut next Season.  My goal is to play on the 15th of May when the Club travels to Canberra to take on the Swans, the game happens to fall on my birthday, but getting any game would be great,” Tutt said.

Western Bulldogs Recruiting and Football Partnerships Manager Simon Dalrymple was wrapt to secure the young defender who he believes has a lot of improvement in him

"We see him as fulfilling that need for speed with kicking ability.  He's a terrific young fella, he was an international softballer last year, so he hasn't had much exposure.  It’s also fantastic that Jason is a Canberra boy because we are playing up there again in Round 8," Dalrymple said.
