The Western Bulldogs suffered a narrow loss to Williamstown on Sunday morning at ETU Stadium in the VFLW.
The Bulldogs had spurts of excellence throughout, but fell five points short for the second week in a row, with wet and muddy conditions lingering in the 6.2 (38) to 6.7 (43) contest.
Slippery conditions saw a scoreless opening quarter by the Bulldogs, but momentum shifted into the second term as Dominique Carbone slotted a major from short range to get the team started.
Tahlia Meier was quick to follow, nailing a set shot, while next to impress was Jaimi Tabb – adding another major to the scoreboard.
Kicking her first goal in red, white and blue, Erica Greet gave the Bulldogs a one-point lead heading into halftime.
The Seagulls were too strong in the third term kicking three unanswered goals to gain the upper-hand.
Heading into the final quarter, Imahra Cameron was quick to strike again by winning the contest to secure her second set shot for the match.
A 50-metre penalty on the full-time siren led to debutant, Kiera Whiley, slotting her first VFLW goal to record the five-point loss.
Tabb mopped up her defensive efforts, landing a game-high 16 tackles and collecting 16 touches.
Sarah Skinner did not waiver with her efforts, piling 18 touches and seven clearances.
Meier and Carbone impressed too, recording 16 touches apiece, meanwhile Jorja Borg led the stat sheet totalling an impressive 43 hit outs for the match.
Cameron continued her solid performance in the forward line as the Bulldogs’ multiple goal scorer of the day.
The VFLW Bulldogs will next meet Carlton at 11am on Saturday 13 May at IKON Park.
