For the first time since 2018, the Western Bulldogs are set to honour their storied and celebrated history with an official Hall of Fame event in June.
Some of the Club’s greatest players and achievements will be commemorated, joining a list of the most revered players, officials and moments in the Bulldogs’ history, at a must-witness event on June 10.
Established in 2010, the Footscray-Western Bulldogs Hall of Fame honours those whose involvement and contribution to the Club has been significant, memorable and worthy of celebration.
The Bulldogs have been shaped over many years by the influence and actions of many people, from the highly successful VFA era, through the VFL years and to the AFL, behind the scenes as well as on the playing field.
Fittingly, the return of the Hall of Fame event coincides with the Bulldogs’ 140th year anniversary, with the Club’s existence dating back to 1883.
The Bulldogs’ Hall of Fame currently exists with five categories: Inductees (22 members), Pioneers (13), Legends (seven), Moments (four) and Officials (three).
The ‘Legends’ have commanded a special place of their own for their exceptional achievements, extraordinary service, exemplary character and the manner in which their profound contribution was made.
These distinguished names need no instruction to fans of the red, white and blue, or any football fan – Ted Whitten, Charlie Sutton, Doug Hawkins, Chris Grant, John Schultz, Norm Ware and Allan Hopkins.
In June, there’ll be more reason to celebrate the amazing Bulldog contributions which continue to shape the team of the mighty west.
