The Western Bulldogs have fallen short to Port Melbourne by just three points on Saturday at ETU Stadium.

The Bulldogs fought hard to record back-to-back wins, but ultimately it was their goal kicking which let them down in the wet and windy 5.6 (36) to 4.9 (33) affair.

It was a slippery battle in the opening term with Imahra Cameron kicking her first from a 50-metre penalty to give the Bulldogs a lead.

Cameron hit the scoreboard again early in the second term, as the rest of play was a tight tussle for both sides.

Excellent tackling pressure in the Borough forward 50 reflected on the scoreboard as the Bulldogs trailed by five points heading into half-time.

In the third term, Kate McCarthy slotted the Bulldogs' third major for the morning. Scores remained close as both teams continued to concede points.

With five minutes of play remaining, Tahlia Meier nailed a set shot to bring the red, white and blue within a two-point margin.

The Bulldogs ramped up on all levels and continued to exhibit magnificent tackling pressure, but Port Melbourne were too strong in the battle to run away victors by three points.

Adding to her impressive first year in the red, white and blue, Jaimi Tabb landed a game-high ten tackles.

Dominique Carbone led the stat sheet with 19 touches and six clearances, while Sarah Skinner, Tahlia Meier and Dominique Carruthers also impressed.

Cameron continued her hot start to her VFLW season kicking two goals, with McCarthy and Meier the Dogs’ other contributors.

The Bulldogs will look to seek redemption against Geelong Cats next Saturday at 12pm at Deakin University.
